My Friend Was Google’s Wife !!
One day in 26th November 2009, 20’s years old ladies goes to local bank in Central of Jakarta, Indonesia. She went to Western Union office that located inside the Bank, then she looks involved discussion with officers there.
The conversation is about withdrawal procedure that not takes long time because these ladies has routine activity to withdrawal in Western Union on every months.
Maybe the same officer that served her every months is curious and asking to her:
Who is Google? He always send you money every months, is he your husband mom?
Grr.. apparently she was withdrawing money from her Google Adsense earning, and the Western Union Officer doesnt know what is Google!!

I think as Westerners we just persume that everybody has heard of Google but Russia, China and many parts of Asia do not use Google on the same level as we do. They tend to opt for their own home grown search engines which are better suited to their own languages.

But maybe some peoples in my country still using Yahoo only (for mail, IM, or search engine), because Yahoo was dominated here for almost 7 years (1993 – 2000).
I just surprise too when heard this
Even Yahoo Messenger still no.1 here for IM users while in other countries maybe peoples using hotmail as their primary IM
Later at 2001 – 2007, is time for Google or Friendster alternately being no. 1
Nowadays in Indonesia, based on Alexa Rank, google was no. 2 (co.id) and 4 (com) http://www.alexa.com/topsites/countries/ID
behind Facebook.
