Why Using Web Directories? Are They Useless?
Well, as we know, today there are some web directories will make us frustrated. Always failed to validation, dead web directories, cheated web directories, never responding, is only some of reasons why i tell you that they are useless and only spending our time for nothing.
But now i just wondering, how to identify the good web directories for us.
First, we just need to make black list for web directories that disappointed us, the worstest reason i think is web directories that never responding us, never adding us after we register and put backlink for them.
Second, spread good web directories by telling thats to others, for old and trusted web directories as we know is like DMOZ free open directory, Yahoo Directory for paid directory, Business.com for your business site and even simply one like BOTW.
But thats not mean we cant trust the new web directories, recently i have tried some of them, and so far not disappointed me, you know an SEO friendly web directory like Max Directory will bring benefit to us. I have checked that, and beside it have friendly url, also our link will tag as dofollow !!
Free or paid directory, i think it doesnt matter, as long as the cost is reasonable, and of course there must be free options besides paid. For example, i have found and checked Jasmine Directory, besides the paid option, they offering too free option for submitting and without removing their best feature like dofollow tag, you know, today is hard to find free web directories with dofollow tag. And more.. i will share in my next post
SEO friendly like url friendly or dofollow tag is two of many important technical factor that we should considering before adding our site into web directory, because we can make early identification only from thats.

Yes, sometimes i was thinking that too, esp. i’m very upset when knowing i have submitting my blog into some “failed” web directories for several times without i knowing before because i forgot

DMOZ is also very takes long time to approved, and if you rejected, you’ll never know.

Hmm i think the only bad from DMOZ is not to confirmed they will approved or rejected our list, beside of that link from DMOZ is a big benefit to us.

Some web offers free submission to hundred directories at once. better not to believe them.

No.. Using web directories is good in many ways. It is moreover a great way for gaining backlinks.

ABout DMOZ, i think both of you is right, there are loss and benefit, but remember, DMOZ doesnt ask you to put link back, so nothing to lose..

Why? well i know if there is some directory in same IP’s / server, so it will be little loss than 1 directory in 1 server / IP’s
for example:
IP’s 127.0.01 only has 1 site dir is more benefit to us than IP’s 192.0.0.1 that have many site dir on it.

The only thing I hate about DMOZ is that you’re not 100% sure you’ll get approved aside from getting a slow feedback from them.

Yes i am spending lot of time in directory submissions.Till now i am not got approval from dmoz.

Sorry but you can’t update the website information anymore once it was submitted. Only a few directories can update your information if you resubmit your site.
